Plays With Dolls

This series stems from Pamela’s memory and fascination of her relationship with dolls. Overcoming her disappointment with her adult perception of the lost human quality of dolls she believed in as a child, she attempts to adjust her perception by montaging their portraits onto photographs of women. In doing so, she discovers the montaged portraits are even less lifelike, adding drama and a biting whimsy, creating new and extraordinarily haunting creatures far removed from her experience with dolls as a child.

Pamela has taken that unfettered imagination she had as a child, wondering if maybe she lost it as an adult, but really it has been refocused. She has channeled her inner child with experiences and witty maturity of adulthood to create these fascinating new creatures/beings.

I’m not crazy, my reality is just different than yours.
